MALVERN COLLEGE CASE STUDY

THE SITUATION

Acctive Systems Ltd was commissioned to design and install the security systems at Malvern College by the consultant Preston Lee Chambers. It was an exciting opportunity for Acctive Systems Ltd as it was to be one of the first true IP Surveillance and Access Control Systems in the UK . The project encompassed two phases with installations within the new Boarding House and Sports Complex, and meant our project management team had to work closely with the consultant, the electrical contractors and of course the end user.

THE SOLUTION

Due to the nature of the project, Acctive Systems Ltd decide upon specifying the Panasonic iPro Surveillance equipment for the CCTV solution, and used Isonas IP Access Control equipment to integrate with the existing site wide system. The Panasonic iPro system consisted of a combination of VGA and Megapixel cameras, both static and fully functional. For a fast, efficient and cost effective solution, the electrical contractor installed a network infrastructure and where needed either Power over Ethernet switches or local power, meaning that Acctive Systems Ltd engineers could simply install the equipment at the camera or access control door locations and move on to the next.

THE BENEFITS

By planning in advance, our project managers decided it would make sense to pre-configure and build the bulk of the equipment off site – this meant that not only did we have an element of Factory Testing to ensure all equipment issued to us was working as expected, but we could reduce time on site massively.

THE PRODUCTS

The end product is a superb fully integrated system that the on site security teams use on a daily basis to manage their site. The Panasonic ASM100 Viewing Software set up on a triple HDMI graphics card PC allows the system, comprising of over 40 cameras (Panasonic WV-NW484 PoE vandal resistant VGA iPro domes; WV-NW964 Fully Functional VGA iPro domes; WV-NS202 Fully Functional PoE VGA domes; WV-NF302 Megapixel iPro domes) to access the Network Recorder (Panasonic WJ-ND400 13.5TB with RAID 5/6) over the network, and the WJ-CU950 Desk Top Controller allows pinpoint control of the fully functional cameras – some with 30:1 zoom lens!) The Isonas access control is web hosted which allows the security team fast access to over 200 doors across the site, and they have developed bespoke software with all the features the college could possibly need. The net result is that the college are looking to build a direct relationship with Acctive Systems Ltd for future works and have put us in touch with similar colleges for future upgrades
